Dear Ohio Amish Country Enthusiast,

We trust you had a most wonderful Thanksgiving! We've actually not had any significant snowfall in northeast Ohio - yet . . . though I'm sure that it's arrival will be inevitable.

But for now, we're thoroughly enjoying every day the sun shines and we have mild temperatures.

We've also begun to anticipate the wondrous Christmas season, its true meaning - and all the pageantry, shopping and festivities that go along with it.

The peak of the travel season to Ohio Amish Country has ended - but the beauty remains.

And yet, Christmas time is a great time for you to visit because the shops are still open and are loaded with some great gift ideas!

Why not consider a Christmas shopping trip to Amish Country? The Holmes County Original Flea Market is actually extending its hours just for folks to be able to take advantage of some of the great Christmas bargains.

After your shopping adventure, spend the night or the weekend and bask in the tranquility and serenity of the Amish countryside!

Take time to relax, reflect and celebrate the real reason for the season.

Granted, during the weeks of Christmas and New Year the rates at the various inns and hotels are usually higher.

But, the winter rates overall are far better than the peak season rates - so take advantage of the time of year and book your reservations now.

Feature of the Month

Kathleen Fuller

A Man of His Word

Kathleen Fuller lives in Geneva, Ohio. She has authored several short stories, novellas and novels. She has also done a lot of freelance non-fiction work.

Her most recent work includes a special treat, the Hearts of Middlefield series, set in Middlefield, Ohio.

Here's a synopsis about A Man of His Word, which is book one of the series:

In just a few short months, Moriah Miller's perfect life unravels. Newly wed and newly pregnant, Moriah is abandoned by her husband, Levi. He's left her, his family, and their faith without a backward glance. The community, stunned, rushes to the young woman's aid.

But there is someone who feels more than just sympathy for Moriah. Gabriel Miller--Levi's twin--longs for an intimate commitment that might someday bind them to one another. Convinced of the impossibility of his dream, Gabriel settles for a mere friendship with the woman he loves.

Honest Love Cover

Moriah bravely goes on with her life, adjusting to her new role in their tight knit Amish community and preparing for the birth of her child.

She is unaware that her brief marriage--once idealized as the happiest time in her life--may have been merely a shadow of the kind of love God has created her for. A love that can mend the soul, renew her heart, and give her a future filled with hope . . . if only she'll let it.

Book number two in the series, An Honest Love, will be out in March of 2010.

These and her other books are available online or in bookstores. For more information visit Kathleen's site at:
