Ohio Amish Country Experiences Volume 02 April 2010
Dear Ohio Amish Country Enthusiast, It's been like a breath of fresh air - the sun has been shining brightly and all but the last traces of snow are gone. The creeks have shed their mantle of ice and snow and the buds are beginning to appear on the trees. But as we well know, just because the calendar declares it to be spring doesn't mean the weather always cooperates.
We've actually had more snow on Easter than on Christmas some years - but with Easter being in April hopefully that will not be the case this time. For now, folks are breathing a sigh of relief and taking advantage of the weather. Children can once again take a break outdoors to play and soak up the warm rays of the sun. Amish ladies appreciate the warmer sunny days to help them on wash days.
And for the rest of us, spring is a favorite time to visit Amish Country. The countryside begins coming back to life as waves of green begin creeping across the fields. You'll see signs of spring and signs of life everywhere. The morning air is crisp with frost on the roofs and the ground. But the days are growing warmer as the daylight grows longer. Don't miss this special time of year - come celebrate Easter and celebrate life in Ohio Amish Country! _________________________________________________________________ In this issue we'll be highlighting . . . 1. If you're looking for a great place to stay in Walnut Creek, Ohio, then here's a place that we highly recommend to you! The Oak Ridge Inn is an eight room all-suite facility tucked away on a hillside. There's lots of great amenities and a beautiful view of the surrounding countryside. All the rooms have cable TV, a patio, a private shower, a kitchenette, microwave and small refrigerator.
Many include such amenities as a two-person Jacuzzi and gas log fireplace. Each room showcases different wood blending furniture styles and colors to create a unique personality. They feature a continental breakfast and special off-season rates. Children 12 & under are free. Stay Saturday night and your Sunday night stay is half price (except Labor & Memorial Day weekends).
They have a wonderful staff, friendly and helpful. They are there to meet your needs, answer your questions or just give you a tour. We stayed in the Shaker Suite where they have recreated the warmth and beauty inherent in a simpler way of life. They have hardwood floors, flashlights beside the beds and the lamps were even made to resemble old fashioned gas lanterns.
Oak Ridge Inn is located just south of SR 39, in Walnut Creek. You may contact them at: Oak Ridge Inn Check out the site for Oak Ridge Inn for more information or to reserve your stay. _________________________________________________________________ Tip of the MonthOhio Amish Country Happenings!
