July 2011

Dear Ohio Amish Country Enthusiast,

Wow, summer is actually here - but it will be gone before you know it! And if you don't make your plans to do something in Ohio Amish Country now, you just might look back and wonder how you missed it!

We certainly know that everyone is exceptionally busy during the summer months - so we want to focus this newsletter on some quick ideas to help you take advantage of the time you have.

Be sure to stop by roadside stands and farm markets to start taking advantage of the fresh seasonal produce as it comes into season.

Bring your cooler or insulated bags, and be sure to have extra room to bring stuff home - you'll be glad you did.

And, as always, if you need a little help navigating around Ohio Amish Country, we strongly advise that you get an Ohio Amish Country map. _________________________________________________________________

Carpenter's Café

Keim Lumber

Keim Lumber is located in the quaint little village of Charm, Ohio. If you are a home improvement store fanatic - then this store is for you!

They have just about everything you can imagine for your home improvement needs, wishes and wants. They have tools to die for and moldings and millwork to outfit a mansion. I personally could spend days there.

This could present a couple of problems - first I don't have enough money to get everything I'd like, but secondly - and probably more importantly, I'd get awfully hungry after awhile!

Alas, they have a solution to the second problem, but unfortunately not the first! All that to say, you needn't leave just because you are hungry. Upstairs, they have a wonderful café!

Carpenter's Cafe

Fittingly named the Carpenter's Café, they have quite the delicious fare. This ranges from a breakfast buffet (to help sustain you through the rigors of a long hard day at . . . shopping) to lunches, desserts and even a weekly evening buffet!

We "checked it out" on a recent trip and were quite pleased with the quality. The price isn't bad either. As they say, "Good food fast not fast food!"

You can visit Keim Lumber at 4465 SR 557 in Charm, Ohio. Or contact them at 330-893-5040 or visit their site at:

Trip Ideas & Events Calendar

We don't claim to know everything about Ohio Amish Country - but we do like to share what we do know - so here's a couple ideas to help you better plan your next trip to Ohio Amish Country:

The first thing we suggest is that you check out our Trip Ideas page. Here, we list several varieties of trips and trip ideas that you can follow or adapt to best fit your schedule.

Some ideas are just a one day deal while others can be stretched out over several days or an entire weekend. We suggest places to stop and places to stay.

The second thing we suggest is that you check out our Events Calendar page. Here we have a rather extensive list of some of the "goin's on" in Ohio Amish Country and surrounding areas.

This will help give you an idea of where you might want to go and when based on what's happening. There's something for just about everyone!

While we're at it, we'll throw in a third thought for free: Check out our Amish Benefit Auctions page. This lists some of the many benefit auctions held in and around Ohio Amish Country.

These auctions are wonderful social events with great food and even a chance to get some great deals!
