Amish Apple Goodie
Amish Apple Goodie - which is basically the Amish version of an old fashioned apple crisp - makes a great dessert. My wife tried this recipe and the whole family absolutely loved it!
We actually prefer this when compared to a traditional double-crust apple pie. Probably because the topping is the best part - and it isn't as "heavy" as regular pie crust.
The aroma of a hot apple crisp fresh out of the oven - it smells as good as it tastes! For some, it might bring back memories of visiting grandparents and enjoying home-cooked meals and enjoying wonderful desserts.
Though not mentioned in the recipe, some will recommend eating it topped with Cool Whip, or vanilla ice cream, while it's still warm. However, if you do manage to have any left over - it's still very good cold (actually, this is my preference)!
You can use most any of your favorite type of apples or just a traditional "pie apple" depending upon your preference. Hope you enjoy it as much as we did!
