Amish schools and school houses are not so very fancy in themselves - but they do the job! Reminiscent of the old one-room school houses, the Amish children still assemble in these simple buildings to learn "the three r's."
Amish children are only required to attend school through the end of eighth grade. They take fewer holidays than traditional schools and are able to master the essentials needed. After this, many Amish children will continue their education through apprenticeship programs with Amish craftsmen where specific trades are learned.
