Walnut Creek Flea Market

by Verna English
(Otisville, Michigan)

This was my first visit to Walnut Creek Flea Market. I enjoyed the busy atmosphere, vendors' wares and the way the building was built to accomadate handicap people. I rode my scooter with ease through the short distance to a door. I loved the many doors to gain acess into the building, instead of hunting for a "main entrance." I noticed a horse drawn wagon shuttling people to the building and to their vehicles. That was a definite plus for customer care. While shopping, my scooter's battery died. I was stranded in an aisle. Vender's were very kind and tried to be of help. Although there was nothing anyone could do, I appreciated the fact that so many offered ideas to get me moving again. In a few minutes my husband came up and pushed me out. I was disappointed I didn't make it to the Food Court Section. I was told there was a scooter rental but it was 4:30 p.m., almost closing time so I declined renting one. However, I think that is a great feature, allowing customers to use the Flea Market scooters. There were many different types of items I had never seen at other Flea Markets. One shop, My Abby's Attic was the type of place I really enjoyed. The faux food was great! I made some purchases and am having fun with the fake tea cup filled with tea, cola in a glass and a cake. I already have other faux items in my kitchen so this was a special "find." I also liked the Tee Shirt shop. They offered bigger sizes and the shirts were priced reasonably. Very seldom do I find 5X & 6X shirts. Keep the big sizes in stock for us portly customers! I purchased some baskets that were very unique and picked up extras for gifts. I would definetly return to Walnut Creek and enjoy this Flea Market again.
