The Whole Amish Experience

by Anon

I have yet to explore and experience anything Amish yet.

However, after watching "For Richer, For Poorer" - the movie seeded the idea of living out (for a week) "The whole Amish experince" and that to me would be:

On arrival day - Be briefed on the daily chores and day-to-day of their normal daily routine(s) then the following day, may the whole Amish experience commence for the next 5 days!

Lodging at an Amish community.
Dress like the Amish.
Wake at their hour.
Work with the Amish.
Eat with the Amish.
Partcipate fully in their culture and tradition.

Living out in their daiy way of life would be the way to have a complete Amish experience (to me that is).

Lastly, enjoy a little shopping "after" the experience.

I don't know...

Sounds like an adventure for sure! I'm not so sure that I would want to spend my vacation living like an Amish person and doing chores, but that is one's own prerogative. It would definitely be interesting living with an Amish family for a few days. I'm sure if you really wanted to do this, it could be arranged. There was a documentary I watched not too long ago where a young girl decided she wanted to try this and she really enjoyed it.

Amish way of life
by: Sandy

I agree, living out the Amish way of life would be the best experience ever! We see it as a relaxing community but in their shoes it would be anything but relaxing. I have always said that I would like to have an Amish friend that I could go visit and learn more. To me, the Amish way of life is very interesting.
